If you are a member of the media and would like to learn more about New York City Animal Rescue Girls (NYCARG), email Natalia Kozikowska at

On December 9, 2017, New York City Animal Rescue Girls hosted its First Annual Holiday Fundraiser at Katch Astoria in Queens.  As a not-for-profit operating on donations alone, New York City Animal Rescue Girls' First Annual Holiday Fundraiser was made possible by the generosity of others. All of our auction and raffle items were donated by local business owners and NYCARG supporters. We thank you for your kindness and for your donations. To all of those who have contributed to this event, we are extremely grateful. Your donations go a long way in assisting NYCARG, which has rescued more than 200 homeless and/or unwanted animals off the streets of New York City since its founding in 2015.

As always, 100 percent of proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to fund our valuable efforts, which include adoption services, fostering services, TNR and veterinary care for our furry friends in need of medical attention.

New York City Animal Rescue Girls honored Peter Vallone Jr., with the "Animal Advocacy Award" at the First Annual NYCARG Fundraiser on December 9, 2017. Vallone was a member of the New York City Council, representing the 22nd District from 2002 to 2013. Vallone, now a Civil Court Judge, was recognized by NYCARG for his tireless commitment to serve as a voice for the voiceless.

In February 2014, Vallone was named one of America's Top Ten Animal Defenders by the Animal Legal Defense Fund. He successfully introduced a measure that made New York City the largest jurisdiction to be protected by an animal abuser registry. The impetus for Vallone's animal abuser registry came after Astoria bodybuilder Milan Rysa threw his dog out an apartment window. Rysa was later convicted for this heinous crime. Vallone's bill created a registry that lists everyone who has been convicted of animal abuse or cruelty, with anyone included legally prohibited from owning an animal for five years.

New York City Animal Rescue Girls President & Founder, Alicia Harding, was presented with a New York City Council Citation at the First Annual NYCARG Holiday Party on December 9, 2017. Harding was honored by New York City Council Member Bill Perkins in recognition for her tireless commitment to animal rescue. NYCARG congratulates Alicia on this  much-deserved honor!
